Taurus Mood Board

Well, well, well, if it isn’t the consequences of my own actions (I didn’t stick to the plan while compiling my Taurus aesthetic list and only realized after that everything I picked has to do with beauty and fashion but honestly I don’t think any Taurus I know would object to that).

This is the third part in a series of little mood board blog posts highlighting the astrological signs and where their archetypes are popping up in visual design across disciplines. Welcome to Taurus Season, you’re going to like it here. We’re observing by touching grass, moving slowly, and taking naps. Oh, and deeply experiencing true beauty. Shall we get into it?

Delft Blue Tattoos

Made to look like the traditional Dutch style of earthenware called Delftware, Delft blue tattoos are an unusually beautiful tribute to home, tradition, craftsmanship, and commitment, all values embodied by the bull. There’s also a captivating push and pull between delicate beauty of the design and the implied toughness of the model.

Ooooh now we’re getting weird with it. This necklace design is made using a real human tooth, a Swarovski crystal, and silver wings. The combo echoes Taurus to me; the earthy, bodily element of the tooth, the fine quality of the other materials elevating the tooth, the balance between the natural and the fantastical. Weird earth fairies, your time has come.

Cowboy Carter Art Direction

Album Photography by Blair Caldwell

There were actually three examples of music album creative direction that were in the running for this spot**, but Beyonce secured it with her (very hot) take on country fashion for Cowboy Carter. Her look reaches deep into the pockets of sensuality with her micro-shorts, chaps, and excessively long hair. Like Taurus, it says, “I am here to be myself and enjoy myself” and radiates with the kind of self-possessed power that cannot be taken away.

** see imagery from Kacey Musgrave’s Album, Deeper Well for additional material.

Ribbon Wrapped Braids

Though Taurus is very sensual and inclined to beauty, there is an element of restraint woven into its wildness. That’s why this braid caught my eye. You can’t call it coquette. You can’t call it formal. It’s practical and beautiful and strange. Can you tell I find Taurus energy very intriguing?? Harkening back to Beyonce’s ultra long hair, this length takes patience and commitment but it’s the most easy, natural thing in the world.

Prairie Girl Pajamas

Romeo Set by Sonderhaus

This time of year I get a recurring fantasy of running away to a cabin in the woods with no wifi and standing knee deep in the stream for several hours a day until the end of the summer.

And ever since I first saw this set, it’s also been a part of that fantasy. Plus some red cowgirl boots. Are you catching my vision?

And that’s a wrap on Taurus season aesthetics!! Chill the f*ck out but never give up!!

xx
