Virgo Mood Board

Ring ring rrrrrrring, your daily routines are calling ‘cause its Virgo season, beyotch. And to guide and deepen your exploration of the virgin sign virtues, here comes the seasonal mood board. This is a designer’s (hi) perspective on where we see the archetype popping up in different mediums and disciplines as a sort of love letter to every Virgo placement in the world. I myself am blessed with Venus in Virgo and a friend group made up almost entirely of Virgo Suns, cute right?

Here come the pretty pictures.

01. Haus of Hands Pillow

Starting where we are going to spend most of our time today, in the home. Ruling over day to day life, service, and care, home is the realm where Virgo resides. I picked these deliberately strange pillow designs as a starting point because of the specific brand of magic they represent. The design house where they are made describe themselves as “campy, dreamy, spiritual, and OTHERWORLDLY”.

Though Virgo sensibilities are often described as practical, that doesn’t keep them from being one of the most common placements in the magic circles I run in. But the magic is practical. It’s earthy, grounded in real life and tangible results. It’s hand crafted, homegrown, with a strong sense of animism.

Get your hands on one here.

02. Aruba Conservation Foundation Branding

Another example of that earthy mysticism is found in this breathtaking brand design for conservation efforts in Aruba. Humanist font? Check. Indigenous art inspired symbology? Check. Rich, warm, natural colors? Check, check, check. This project is, in fact, highly labor intensive, but so clearly a labor of love. As a brand designer, I don’t put a lot of brands in this publication because surely no one cares as much as I do about them, BUT I am beseeching you to hit the link on this one and appreciate the artistry. It’s also just a very beautifully laid out portfolio.

03. Cubey Rhinestone Mug

If you’re a Virgo bracing yourself for this post to be entirely brown, unclench your butt cheeks. Ruled by Mercury and associated with a variety of gem stones, we can visualize Virgo just as blingy as we can Leo. But in a cooler, more sophisticated and understated way. This mug designer values beauty, but not the kind you put in a museum or blow up in Times Square. It’s valuable because it is seen and used by one person, every day. The simplicity and consistency of use is what makes the beauty worthwhile.

Unfortunately, for the first time in Astro Mood Board history, I could not find the original artist for this piece, just a few knock offs. And I still feel it’s worth including. If you know the original source, please drop me a line. And to satisfy the shoppers amongst my readers, I’ve included another piece of Virgo coded every day art/home decor below for your purchasing pleasure to make up for this one.

04. Lady Gaga slaying the house down in a little suit

See how Lady Gaga channels 1970 douche bag culture in her latest styled shoot? Very practical, very sexy.

Home girl did not tag her stylist, but a little sleuthing (enhance, enhance, enhance), shows us this blazer is from menswear brand, Amiri. Maybe this is cliche, but there’s a reason Virgo style is frequently communicated via menswear. Unlike women’s clothing from the same era, menswear is designed for practical, every day use. Wearable and pairable. And say what you will about kitten heels, they were absolutely the right choice for this outfit.

Alright kids, that’s the show. Find something to improve in your life and write a 10 step plan for getting on track. Expand your house plant collection. Find joy in pushing your rock up the hill. And most importantly, thank your Virgo bestie for their incredible opinions and spot on judgement. They are right every single time. As always, please drop your own submissions to the current Mood Board in the comments because our relationships to these archetypes are so unique and individualized, someone will probably resonate with yours more than mine.
